Project Description
When we first spoke with Daniel Popper, we recognised a kindred obsession: taking over spaces that were never meant to host magic and turning them into temporary temples of community.
His work is insane. Colossal figurative sculptures that have guarded dance floors at Boom Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival, Electric Forest and the Playa at Burning Man — already behaving like the kind of worlds we try to create with elrow: gateways, chapels and gathering points where people slow down, look up and feel part of something bigger than themselves.
What makes Bhutarah different from previous elrow shows is that it's structured as a genuine journey. The show moves through four distinct acts — fire, earth, air, water — with lighting, atmosphere and energy shifting completely between them.
The stage was deliberately kept small so the LED wall behind it becomes the dominant visual, pushing the experience away from watching a show towards being inside one. At the centre of the room hangs the diamond: a large geometric disco ball suspended above the crowd, the symbolic gem you carry away after a journey of introspection.
World premiere: 6 June 2025, [UNVRS] Ibiza. One of the most ambitious collaborations we've ever attempted: months of design and engineering, six-figure budgets for a single piece, and the logistics of moving and assembling multi-ton artworks across venues.

Bhutarah pushed costume construction into new territory. Materials like rope and other organic elements not previously used in elrow productions, techniques developed specifically for this show.
